Today’s post is all about Nova’s backpack (or as she calls it- “pack pack”). We’ve been using it about six months now and it has saved us on soooo so many occasions.
Our strategy is to keep a backpack with us (it stays in our car always unless we are flying) full of entertaining things for Nova to play with. We rotate out the things in the bag anytime she starts seeming bored with it or when it gets too heavy. I love that it is evolving with her different stages.
Here are some items we keep in the bag that have helped her stay entertained when eating out and when flying.
–Water Wow! Coloring Books These are amazing. Nova will paint them over and over and over for hours. Very good for long trips. These are our favorite kind.
–Alphabet Cards Nova loves any kind of cards, and now that she is interested in learning letters these are so fun!
–Sketch Book and Paint Brush Pens These paint brush pens are so much prettier than markers. Tonight we were at a restaurant with friends and Nova drew so many pages and way entertained by them for a long time.
-Someone pointed out to me that most restaurants don’t reuse their crayons and then I started to notice that every single time we go somewhere they bring new crayons. So we saved some of them and now we have them in the backpack & don’t need to waste their new crayons.
–Eric Carle Animal Flash Cards Love these!
By far the most popular item in Nova’s “pack pack” are her rainbow cards, which came from aunt Emma when we visited the A Color Story office.
Other things we have tried… stickers (these are so great!), pipe cleaners, washi tape, and I am not above multiple boxes of tic tacs or gummies especially for airplane travel or places where we may need a quick distraction.
Hope this is helpful to someone… it’s been a game changer for us. xx!
