This year we added our first garden to our backyard. It’s made of two large rows of cedar boxes, with a path in between. My parents helped me choose the vegetables and herbs and plant them. Jeremy has started to enjoy yard work this summer, so that’s been pretty cool. I guess owning this home has motivated us to get into things that we weren’t that interested in before. I mean, I always wanted a garden but this year I finally got the motivation to actually make it happen! (hooray!!) I’m proud of what we’ve been able to do with our yard so far. It’s a lot of work, but it’s getting just a little bit prettier and more personalized every season.
So far, we’ve only been using herbs from the garden. The vegetables are still very tiny, but there they are! I’m excited to cook with them once they are full grown. Gosh, we still have so much to learn. Our yard is a little to shaded for a garden, so next season we may have to get some trees cut down or at least majorly trimmed back.
This has been a fantastic experience! I’m so thankful for my parents and my grandma for all the advice they’ve given us. Hopefully in years to come we will dive deeper into this hobby!
Cheers to teeny tiny tomatoes!
