Yesterday, we visited our grandmother at her cabin which is in the middle of nowhere (literally) and one of the most inspiring places in the world. Emma already shared some photos here. We love her home because every room, every wall, and every closet is packed full of treasures and keepsakes from her entire life. She has had quite an eclectic life too. She grew up in Caracas and married my grandfather when she was only seventeen year old. They lived there for a long time, but traveled to the US often. When my mother was in elementary they moved to Missouri and became farmers and she has lived here ever since. I could go on all day about how much I admire her style, her need to collect and all of her quirks. Instead, I will just share a few more photos from her current home…
We made these dolls together when I was little. I have a photo somewhere of 5 year old Elsie posing with a whole army of these pretty messy dolls. Absolutely a tradition I want to continue with my family someday…
Penny was in love.
Corina is my kindred spirit. I feel like we could swap homes or closets or magazine collections and be just fine. I’m not sure if many people would say that about their grandmother, but I feel I have more in common with her than most humans in this world. Someday I hope to do a full collection (art or fashion, not sure…) inspired by her life, her travels and her eclectic passion for pretty things.
