I wanted to wish you all a safe and cozy holiday. We are staying home this year for Christmas and New Years and we’re planning fancy menus of things we can cook at home, dressing up for no reason other than it’s festive and listing to Nova’s current favorite song “A Holly Jolly Christmas” as many time as we can.
I’m planning to unplug for most of this next week and try reconnecting with my old friend…. my DSLR camera. We haven’t been spending much time together these last few years and I decided that my big personal goal for 2021 (which is a rollover of a goal I didn’t hit for 2020- no shame!) is to take DSLR photos every day.
I miss very few things about the early days of blogging (like sharing way too much of my personal life in exchange for making zero dollars haha) but I truly, truly miss my “photography phase”. It was such a good creative phase for me and I am hoping to resurrect that kind of energy this year. 🙂
While I’m on the goal front, my other goal is to get into pottery. I talked about it on our podcast this past week. When I was a freshman in highschool I took my mom’s “zero hour” (which means it was before school started) pottery class and I had so much fun. We mainly made molded designs, with molds leftover from the 70s… so I made a yoda cookie jar and a mushroom spoon rest. My favorite part of all was seeing how the glazes came out when we unloaded the kiln. This past year when we moved I started to research what it would take to make a setup like this in our garage and I’m excited to pull the trigger. I think it will be wonderful for our kids to learn to use the wheel and make gifts for their family. I’m so excited! I just want to make stuff.
I’m cautiously very optimistic for what 2021 will bring. If you’re looking for a good cause to give to for year end charitable giving, we chose Families Belong Together this year. xx
