Our first year of marriage we made goals on our honeymoon… a long long list of super ambitious goals. On our first year anniversary it was a little discouraging to realize we didn’t complete them all, some were not even started. So we decided for year two to stick with only three big goals.
Our goals for our second year of marriage were 1. to purchase a new home, 2. work on our health and fitness and 3. work on building Jeremy’s career as a music producer. Year two was a big success and we were so happy to celebrate that we completed (or made big progress) in all of our goals. It was an amazing year.
While we were away for our long weekend in Palm Springs we chose our new list of three goals for the coming year. Our goals this year are 1. work on preparing our lives for children. This goal involves a long list of stuff we want or need to change to be ready for a baby… stuff like taking full weekends off from work, learning to work smarter not harder and saying no to a lot more than we currently do. Basically we’re overbooked in general and want to enjoy and savor our first year as a family of three, not race through it with blindfolds on. 2. Finish the house. We are still at a point where we hesitate before inviting people over because some of the rooms aren’t finished at all. So one of our big goals for this year is to get our home to a place where we aren’t embarrassed when people drop by or shy about hosting parties. 3. Make new traditions. When spring weather finally came our way we started a front porch tradition. It’s silly and small but it’s something we both look forward to every single day. Our last goal for the this year is to keep creating little traditions like that throughout the seasons. It’s a little more challenging when the weather gets cold, but we really want to keep building new habits that help us unwind together. 🙂
Cheers to a new year, new goals and the desire to keep growing closer! ♥
