On our fourth anniversary we bought our second house together… in Nashville, Tennessee. It felt completely surreal. It still does. My brain is going to be catching up to what is happening for a while.
So, normally we take a vacation to mark each anniversary, but this year it only felt right to spend it working on our new home because that was the only place we really wanted to be, and the only thing we really wanted to be doing.
We were very lucky to find a home we loved so much quickly. The house market in Nashville is crazy and we didn’t expect for things to happen as quickly as they did. We only decided to move about four months ago!
Anyway- here are a few silly photos to remember our week by. We spent almost the entire time covered in paint. Oh yeah- that’s because we got a paint quote that was EIGHTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. Painting sounded fun after that. Motivation!
We wasted no time. We barely went out at all, only hung out with, like, two people and just worked the whole time. I painted this gigantic bookshelf in the living room and Jeremy did a lot of the walls in the whole house. In the photo above he’s doing the hallway and I’m working on the breakfast nook.
We decided to buy a sprayer after one night of painting brick and stone. haha! It takes forever.
These photos are so special to me. I’m glad we jumped in and did a bunch of stuff ourselves because we definitely feel more invested in the process now. It’s a big job. The home wasn’t really updated since the 1970s so it needed a lot of cosmetic updates even though it was beautiful and kept up really well.
On the day we got the keys the first thing we did was film an empty house tour. I shared it over on A Beautiful Mess, but I wanted to share it here too since this is the sentimental to me. I know we will watch this video back in years to come and be able to really see the before and after. I took a lot of photos too, but sometimes video captures it best.
