If you follow us on Instagram you’ve seen that I’ve been spending quite a bit of time this season getting our new short term rental prepared to rent. Well… it’s finally up and running. You can rent it here.
I also designed a space for my sister’s bnb (our spaces are a duplex, but they are separate rentals). You can see both our spaces via our Airbnb profile. We have another property in Springfield, Missouri that we are currently working on and will be adding later this summer (or soon-ish… to be honest I am not sure). It’s so cute and we will be sharing it a lot too because it’s where we my family is going to stay for holidays and visits to Missouri to see our family. Our first stay will be in August- so pretty soon!
Anyway- getting the Nashville property up and running is a HUGE item off my list. I am definitely going to celebrate tonight! We’re going on our last date night (with a babysitter, at least) for a while.
A few months back I made a “baby bucket list” and hung it up in my office. I am so proud that I checked off almost all the items. A lot of it was cleaning my home. I wanted to do a big video shoot for ABM before we left for China and I got that done. A few of the things were personal goals and things that would just make my life a little easier when we first get home from China- like having a fully stocked deep freezer and a big list of fun things to do with the girls.
We’re 10 days away from our adoption trip and I only have six days of work left… so crazy. I’m going to start packing this weekend and we’re going to a big shoot for our video app.
A lot of people ask me how I balance work and family. Besides the obvious answer, which is “childcare” I think the biggest key for me is that I truly love my work. It fulfills a different piece of me and keeps me creatively engaged. I want to be in with all my heart during those hours. Then when I am off work with my family I am in that 100% and I don’t hold anything back. Both parts of my day are so precious to me every day, and I think that knowing that the hours are limited keeps me mindful of how I am spending my time. Being a mom forced me to become my most productive self and I’m grateful for that.
I’m also so thankful that my sister and I created a company with paid maternity leave. It’s such a rare thing in the US these days, and it does take a lot of sacrifice, but I am so glad we decided to make it priority because being off work for the first few months with Marigold is such a gift.
Ok… I feel like we’re heading into the home stretch! Thank you for cheering us along this season and always. I’m so excited/nervous/anxious… but also SO ready.
