Playing In The Leaves.

We sure love watching the dogs play in our backyard. They love the leaves, the big open space and hiding their bones from each other. They really are the perfect playmates. When Dolly was missing last week Suki spent the whole day pouting. We’re not looking forward to the super cold weather because small dogs can’t be outside as much. We’re all enjoying these last days for crisp (and not-too-chilly) Autumn.

Suki + Dolly make our home life (and our office life) so much better. ♥ 

An Ice Cream Date.

I married a guy who says he doesn’t like sweets. So on the rare occasion that he wants to get ice cream with me in the middle of the day I get pretty excited. And I take pictures. And for the rest of the day I say “wasn’t that fun…” over and over again.

Marriage is fun like that. You influence each other in ways you never thought possible. I can sit through horror movies sometimes. And he is into Downton Abbey. And I like eating barbecue now. And he likes appreciates Justin Timberlake (finally!) See… we’re really good for each other.

Lost & Found.

Dolly

Wow. These past 24 hours were sure scary.

Last night Mallory and I were priming and painting chairs inside my home when we heard a knock at the door. A man had our pug on a leash and asked if she belonged to us. I said yes and picked her up, completely confused and flustered. I thanked him and then went out to the back yard to make sure Dolly (our dachshund) was still there. She wasn’t. Even our pug was depressed.

The next few hours were a blur. Walking around the neighborhood. Making “Lost Dog” signs. Calling every shelter and posting photos online on sites like Craigslist. It was sad and terrifying. I cried. We tried to stay positive. Jeremy drove around looking for her for two hours. It was really one of the scariest nights ever. We barely slept.

This morning we continued calling places and doing everything we knew to do. In the middle of the day someone called Jeremy to say that that they thought they may have seen Dolly at a residence near our home. Mallory and I went over there right away and a nice man identified her and told us where she was. Mallory said I gasped so loud when we saw her. I’ve been holding her so tight all night. I was so afraid we would never see her again. It was hard seeing Jeremy so sad too.

This is the first time one of my pets has ever been missing. We are so thankful to have them home now. As I type this they are both laying on the couch, on both sides of me. Feeling so thankful and so lucky.
