I still can’t believe this was the first time I ever did one of these bucket lists. I think in the past I made them in a blog post or something, but having it physically hanging up where I saw it every day and checked things off made it so much more gratifying. I got kind of obsessed with needing/wanting to check off every item and it definitely helped up to branch out and try different things that we don’t normally do (or forget to do). Life changing!
Here’s a recap of some of the things from the bucket list we did this summer.
Fireflies. This was special! Nova’ bedtime is pretty early and it gets dark late in the summer so we ended up doing this one at Laura’s party when she was already staying up way past her bedtime.
We got a play pool. For the months we had this (before it got a leak) Nova loved it and asked to go swimming every day. The photo above was taken on her third birthday.
Summer camp. A big tradition for us with our nieces. More pics here.
We went to the zoo. It was kind of meh to me (sorry Nashville zoo) but Nova loved the goats because you get to go in and pet them. So I put “visit a farm” on our autumn list.
Dinosaur World. This amazing kitschy park about an hour from our home. It’s really cute.
Smoke bombs. We had the best time visiting our family in Missouri in July. It was Nova’s first time to be around fireworks and she was kind of into it.
Sending happy mail to Missouri. We spend a lot of time talking about our family in Missouri with Nova, we do a lot of facetimes and now we are starting to teach her about sending mail.
Painting outside with Nova (more on this here). This was for sure my favorite thing on the list because we discovered something special that we love doing together!
And last but not least- getting family photos. I have learned that we do have to be really intentional about this. Even though we take photos of Nova all the time, we have to actually try to get photos of the three of us together. We traded with the Gummerman’s on this day and we took photos of them and they took some of us. Kind of a cool and easy (and free!) way to get family photos.
Wooo!!!! I just finished filling out our Autumn bucket list (you can get one through the sidebar of the ABM blog if you want one too) and I will be sharing those activities here and on my personal Instagram. Autumn is my favorite, but I have to say doing this summer list made summer even more special this year. I’m going to keep doing these list regularly because it made a really positive difference in our weekends… it’s just nice to always have fun ideas of things to do!
