I am overwhelmed in the best possible way. After having a house fall through a couple weeks ago and a couple that we were looking at get snatched up we were feeling a little blue. I know there are people who shop for much longer than two months, but it was too long for us. We started talking about taking a break. It was just taking up a lot of our time together (we’re obsessive).
So on Friday morning, Jeremy dropped me off at the studio. He called me ten minutes later really hyped up about a new house that just went up for sale. This happens often, so I didn’t get my hopes up. I took a look at the photos online and told him we should schedule something because it was B E A U T I F U L.
When we first started shopping we wanted an old house (100+ years) in a certain area of town. After shopping around we started to feel like all of the houses with this style were either wayyy above our budget or needed too much work. Many of the homes we looked at needed major updates. We’re not afraid of a bucket of paint, but we didn’t want to live in a half renovated house for a year either. So, we adjusted our expectations. We started looking at new homes. Turns out there are lots of perks to newer homes like nicer closets and bathrooms. We didn’t see an older home come up that we liked the whole two months we were shopping… until Friday.
I shuffled around my day, apologized to Emma and raced over to view the home an hour after Jeremy called me. As soon as we pulled up to the front I knew I loved it. It was everything we imagined in the beginning of our hunt. We went inside and fell in love… in LOVE. It was kinda overwhelming. We made an offer and waited. And then we got the call… signed a couple more papers and it was under contract. Hooray!
Here’s a little snapshot I took with my phone. I promise to share more photos next month…
We had extra to celebrate this weekend because two of our dear friends made an offer on the very same day. They are newlyweds(ish) too and buying their very first home together. They invited us over for champagne and we got to geek out about fun stuff like floors and counter tops together. 🙂
Wow… So happy! Cross your fingers that everything goes smoothly from here… I can’t believe all that happened in two days. My head is still spinnin’ a little… ♥
